Our premium-grade Wu-Yi Big Red Robe (Da Hong Pao) offers rich aromas of roasted vegetables, sweet honey, and wet stones. The liquor is colored as warm peach brandy. Delicately spicy, robust, and rounded texture, with pit-fruit flavors and subtle ripe peach juiciness. The history of Wu-Yi Big Red Robe starts with a legend of a young scholar who was living a life with very little money to eat, and certainly not enough money to purchase tea. On his way to school, he would pick leaves from these Wuyi Mountain trees to make his tea. When he completed his Imperial Examinations and received honors he removed his red robe and adorned the trees with it on his way home. This was his way of paying tribute to the trees for helping him complete his studies successfully. This oolong tea is from the Wu-Yi Mountains in the Fujian province of China. It grows defiantly in the gaps of the mountain boulders, which endow it with the highly prized mineral 'rock taste.'
