The opening chords were inspired by a woodwind trio "Three Places in Vienna - Die Malteserkirche" written by clarinetist, Jaren Hinckley. I enjoyed experimenting with different ways to play the melody such as altering the meter and splitting it between parts. Adding the "Simple Gift" tune focuses on the Americana spirit of both songs.
