X-Load LB-2 Load Box Important Warnings – Read Before Ordering The LB-2 is an 8 Ohm device. Connect its AMP IN jack only to an 8 Ohm speaker output to avoid damage. Mismatched impedance may harm your amplifier. The maximum power rating of the LB-2 is 100W. Do not connect it to any amplifier rated higher than 100W, as this can damage both the amplifier and the LB-2. The X-Load LB-2 Load Box represents the pinnacle of load and reactive speaker emulation technology for live use or recording. It allows you to run a traditional tube amplifier safely without connecting a speaker cabinet, providing an 8 ohm load (100W maximum) while delivering a balanced or unbalanced line-level output. Unlike conventional load boxes and attenuators, the LB-2 employs Fractal Audio’s Dynamic Impedance technology to deliver unmatched realism and feel. Record your amplifier in its sweet spot without excessive volume, or achieve consistent tone without the need for microphones or speaker cabinets. The LB-2 also includes a Speaker Thru jack, allowing you to connect a real speaker cabinet while simultaneously sending a line-level signal to a recorder, mixer, or speaker simulator. The Voicing switch shifts the load’s resonance. The UK position emulates the response of a typical British-style guitar speaker, while the US position captures the lower resonance typical of American speakers. Note: The LB-2 does not provide speaker simulation. To achieve a full cabinet sound, route the direct amp signal through speaker simulation hardware such as the Axe-Fx, FM9, FM3, VP4, or through software such as Cab-Lab.
