The XDP X220 Main Stud Kit XD3003MS replaces the factory main bolts on your 2003-2010 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke. Featuring 8740 Chromoly construction with an added proprietary element for additional strength to ensure these studs will not stretch like the factory bolts. These heavy-duty studs are rated at 220,000+ psi tensile strength and 210,000+ psi yield strength to provide better clamping force under higher combustion pressures. The threads are rolled after heat-treating to provide maximum fatigue strength. In addition to the increased strength, replacing the OEM main bolts with studs also allows you to obtain a more accurate torque reading. A conventional bolt gets twisted as it is tightened, so it's reacting to two different forces at the same time. With a stud the force gets applied to the vertical axis, resulting in a more even clamping force. In addition, they also allow for easier engine assembly and proper alignment of the main bearing caps every time. These are a must-have for high-performance applications and are reusable, unlike the OEM Torque-To-Yield (TTY) bolts which must be replaced after each use. XDP X-TRA Slick Engine & Fastener Assembly Lubricant (Sold Separately):The use of XD541 is highly recommended during engine assembly. Apply XDP X-TRA Slick Lubricant to head studs, head bolts, main studs, main bolts, connecting rod bolts, and any other fasteners used during engine assembly. Using a proper assembly lubricant during fastener installation reduces friction and torque pre-load scatter in the torquing sequence, while also helping to prevent thread galling and seizing.
