30% GREATER LOCKING Through optimization of the DCCD electromagnet coil design parameters XShift have been able to produce a replacement coil with greater magnetic force while reducing the current requirements and therefore the thermal loads. The DCCD (Driver Controlled Center Differential) is a mechanical limited slip differential (LSD) which has a variable locking ratio controlled via a multi-plate clutch. The DCCD electromagnetic coil is responsible for applying pressure on the multi-plate clutch (pilot clutch). By increasing the electromagnetic force the maximum locking ratio can be increased resulting in increased differential performance especially under the most demanding conditions. Reducing the current required to achieve a specific magnetic force lowers the heat build-up within the coil improving its reliability. Subaru does not sell the coil separate from the complete DCCD (which is quite expensive) so this XShift coil can allow you to salvage a DCCD with failed or damaged coil that would otherwise be unusable. Three variations of this coil are available depending on the application (5-Speed DCCD coil is available only by special order with a 6 to 8 week lead time).
