200 Gram Vinyl, LP XTC's sixth album, Mummer (1983), marked a turning point — their first release as a studio-only band. Freed from the constraints of the road, the group experimented with songs, arrangements and an expanded sonic palette, recording and re-mixing across the best of the UK's studios. Though it arrived to high hopes and yielded several singles, it found its wider audience over time and is now seen as an important first step toward the expansive writing and recording that would yield Skylarking and beyond.
