The 5-inch Yamamoto Senko is a legendary soft-plastic stickbait. Its heavy salt content creates an enticing, horizontal fluttering fall that triggers fish to bite. It is incredibly versatile and is widely used for wacky rigging, Texas rigging, or fishing weightless. Key Features and Specifications Length: 5 inches Material: Soft, yet durable salted plastic Action: Subtly shakes and falls horizontally when rigged without a weight Packaging: Typically sold in 10-packs Why It Works So Well The Senko’s beauty lies in its simplicity. Yamamoto stuffs a large amount of salt directly into the plastic. This gives the bait enough mass to cast easily, while also providing the perfect fall rate. Think of it like a leaf falling through the air: as the bait sinks, it slowly wobbles and shimmies side-to-side. This natural movement perfectly mimics a dying baitfish or a helpless worm, driving bass crazy. How to Fish It Because of its design, you can fish the 5" Senko in many different ways: Weightless: Simply tie the hook directly to the bait without any added weight. Cast it near docks, brush, or lily pads, and let it sink slowly. Wacky Rig: Hook the bait exactly in the middle. When you gently twitch your rod tip, both ends of the bait will wiggle and dance. Texas Rig: Thread the hook so the point hides inside the plastic body. This lets you drag the bait through heavy weeds and cover without getting snagged.
