While Kraftwerk was emerging in Europe - becoming a major influence and inspiration - Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO) stayed true to their own unique sound. Formed in 1978, the Japane se electro-pop outfit features the legendary Haruomi Hosono on bass, also known for producing the timeless and mind-bending Hosono House. Solid State Survivor, the band’s second album, was released in 1979 and, although it was released before the start of the '80s, it already contains remnants of electronic dance music as we know it today.
