Yellowheart is one of the few hardwoods that doesn’t lose the colour vibrancy that you see after aging. What is Yellowheart? It is actually Portuguese for ‘yellow wood’ and is a be autiful wood from Brazil. Also known as Pau Amarello, this wood works well with both hand and power tools though areas of interlocked grain or figure can pose challenges. It can have a moderate dulling effect on tools and has an odour that is an acquired taste. As the name suggests, Yellowheart has a rich pale to golden yellow colour that only darkens slightly with age. It is commonly used for accents on furniture, flooring, boatbuilding, and turned objects. A little bit goes a long way with this bright wood!
