The Yepp Maxi Easyfit seat is a staple of the long tail cargo bike set, carrying kids from around 1 years of age until they can no longer fit. Our experience has been that kids no longer fit in here sometime between the ages of 5 and 9. They either get too tall or too big or both. The seat is rated for 22kg - however as these are mainly used onto cargo bikes with inbuilt rear racks, the weight limit is less important than the actual size/fit limits. Many cargo bikes have 'easyfit windows' built into their rear cargo racks, making this the child seat of choice. However, systems like these that are specific to a particular brand (Yepp) and not shared with other brands and manufacturers are no longer allowed in the European market on the basis of consumer rights and competition (similar to how iPhones have to use USB-C chargers now in Europe). While standardisation certainly is an honourable goal, the fact remains that this particular seat is head and shoulders preferred over the various standardised types. For that reason, we snapped up a huge quantity of these seats while we had the chance. We expect this stock will last us until ~2027. By then there won't be as many cargo bikes on the market using the Easyfit system.
