Their relationship began when Euan invited Satomi to remix a Glacis track for his album Interpretations—a small gesture that opened an unexpected line of communication. What started as a simple artistic request soon grew into an ongoing correspondence, shaped by everyday observations, and a growing curiosity about each other’s cultural environments. Over time, this steady exchange built a quiet but deep sense of trust. As their dialogue evolved, so too did their music. Drawing unconsciously and then more deliberately on the traditional folk languages of their respective homes, their collaboration became a meeting point between English and Japanese sensibilities. Melodic phrasing, pacing, and tone echo folk traditions from both cultures—not through imitation, but through shared values of simplicity, repetition, and emotional honesty. 'Gloaming' emerges from this crossing of paths: a record shaped as much by correspondence and cultural exchange as by sound. Distance becomes connective rather than divisive, allowing English and Japanese influences to sit side by side, fused into a single, understated musical voice defined by patience, intimacy, and care.
