Young Love' is about trying to recapture the nostalgia we feel as children and the layers of the paint create a sense of time passing. The scale is used to highlight the memory tha t has faded and emphasise the importance of objects to us when we are young. I am preoccupied with how mental states alter engagement with reality, how psychological shifts can imbue seemingly banal images, objects or even surface patterns with a kind of confused aura to hint at a deeper significance.
