It has been years since Young Statues' last release, 2014's The Flatlands Are Your Friend (Run For Cover). The band's last full length saw them exploring somber territory tread bef ore by bands like the National, and prior to that, their self-titled debut and follow up EP Age Isn't Ours offered varied moments of genre-defying musicianship. On Amarillo, the band's growth towards a more upbeat outlook is apparent. The tracks offer a refreshingly upbeat blend of indie-pop and alt-country, elevated by stellar production and musicianship.
