Zafran Attar is the classical Indian saffron perfume — Kashmiri saffron stigmas (Crocus sativus) hand-collected from the Pampore valley in autumn, then co-distilled by deg-bhapka i nto Mysore sandalwood oil over multiple rounds until the wood is fully saturated. Saffron remains the most costly spice on earth, which puts this attar among the more rarefied Indian co-distillates. Zafran Attar opens with the warm, honeyed character of dried saffron over soft, creamy sandalwood. Classic saffron notes of earthy hay and a faint leathery edge threads through the heart. Use Zafran Attar in classical oriental-rose accords, mukhallats, leather chypres and Mughal-style attar reconstructions. It pairs naturally with rose otto and oud — the three-way saffron-rose-oud accord is a backbone of Middle Eastern perfumery. A small dose adds golden warmth to amber bases without competing with the resinous notes. This Zafran is from M.L. Ramnarain Perfumers, a Kannauj distillery run by five generations of the Kapoor family using copper degs and the traditional water-distillation method. Show more
