The beauty of this knife begins in the same place it's perfor mance-driven geometry is on full display: as a vein of pure nickel courses through the 241mm / 9.5" blade's primary bevels, separating gorgeous carbon damascus cladding from the hard, razor-sharp edge and core of 1.2419 tungsten-carbon steel. The weight and feeling in the hand of this full size cutting tool are balanced and natural, delivering outstanding geometry through tall, subtly convex bevels above an especially thin edge, offering both toughness from the high-performance blade steel and finesse from its fine, needle-like tip at the end of a steadily tapering, rounded spine. Etched and polished for a rustic, purposeful aesthetic, rough, forge-finished flats give way to high-contrast damascus, and finally, the dark, monosteel edge. For comfort and control, shaped in his well-loved, shield style wa handle form, Martin employs stabilized chestnut wood, tapering slightly from back to front, and capped with a faceted, stainless steel ferrule.
