Zizia aptera is an Eastern US native wildflower that attracts butterflies and other pollinators with its flat clusters of brilliant, yellow blooms in late spring. It is more common ly known as "Heartleaf Alexanders". Zizia aptera is similar in appearance to Zizia aurea (Golden Alexanders), though it is set apart by its heart-shaped basal leaves. It makes an excellent native alternative to Queen Anne's Lace. For best results, plant Zizia aptera Heartleaf Alexanders in moist to dry, well-drained soil.
