Naboso is a natural wine producer working in Slovakia — a country whose wine culture is as old as the Carpathian basin itself but whose contemporary natural wine scene is only recently finding the international audience it deserves. Naboso means barefoot in Slovak: a name that speaks to a grounded, unadorned approach to the vineyard and the cellar, working with what the land gives rather than imposing on it. Zore is a red blend of André, Blaufränkisch, and Alibernet — three grape varieties that together form a distinctly Central and Eastern European identity. Blaufränkisch is the anchor: a blue-fruited, structured variety with good acidity and tannin that is native to the Pannonian basin and makes some of the most compelling reds in Slovakia, Austria, and Hungary. André is a Czech cross of Blaufränkisch and Saint-Laurent, adding aromatic lift and fruit intensity. Alibernet is a mid-twentieth-century Czechoslovak hybrid of Alicante Bouschet and Cabernet Sauvignon, bringing dark colour, body, and a faint herbal edge. Together they produce a wine with a character that could only come from this corner of Europe: red and black fruits, raspberries, strawberries, currants, a rose-tinged floral note, and an underlying herbal freshness. Bright, food-friendly, and genuinely interesting.
