The Best-Selling Mount Just Got Even Better What’s New: Enhanced Connectivity: New USB-C & DC 12v output ports on the mount saddle. Bluetooth Compatibility: Improved wireless connectivity. Streamlined Design: New base design eliminates azimuth locking knobs. Superior Tracking: Improved performance with higher load angles & heavier payloads. Precision Upgrade: Reduced periodic error from ±20 down to ±10 arcseconds. Key Specifications: Payload Capacity: 33 lbs (15 kg) without a counterweight, 44 lbs (20 kg) with. Portability: Mount head weighs only 12 lbs (5.5 kg) and fits in most carry-on luggage. Accuracy: Zero backlash & negligible periodic error of ±10 arcseconds for ultra-precise tracking. Compatibility: Can be controlled wirelessly from the ASIAIR or ASCOM-driven software. Hybrid Operation: Functions in both equatorial & alt-az modes. Cutting-Edge Strain Wave Mount Technology Goodbye Counterweights: The ZWO AM5N features advanced strain wave gears, offering precise tracking in a lightweight package. Unlike traditional mounts, it can operate without counterweights for payloads up to 33 lbs (15 kg). If needed, the capacity extends to 44 lbs (20 kg) with additional counterweights. Zero Backlash: Strain wave drive mounts eliminate the common issue of backlash found in traditional worm gear mounts. While there is some periodic error, the AM5N keeps it under ±10 arcseconds, complete with an inspection certificate. Autoguiding accuracy impresses at 0.5 to 0.8 arcseconds. High Payload, Low Weight Portable and Powerful: Weighing just 12 lbs (5.5 kg), the AM5N is easy to transport and comes with a premium soft shell case. It handles up to 28 lbs (13 kg) without counterweights, ideal for medium refractors and large SCTs. With counterweights, it supports even larger telescopes, increasing the payload capacity to 44 lbs (20 kg). Hybrid Equatorial & Alt-Azimuth Operation Versatile Use: With a 0-90 degree latitude range, the AM5N supports both equatorial and alt-azimuth modes, making it perfect for astrophotography and visual observing. This flexibility allows imaging from virtually any location on Earth. Wireless Capability & ASIAIR Compatibility Total Wireless Control: Operate the AM5N entirely via your phone or tablet with the included hand controller and the ASI Mount app. It seamlessly integrates with the ZWO ASIAIR for comprehensive control of your mount and other ZWO devices. Hand Controller Manual and Wireless Operation: The rocker style hand controller allows manual pointing and acts as the WiFi bridge for wireless operations and firmware updates. Additional Features: Ports: USB for accessories, ST-4 for guide cameras, a hand controller port, and a 12v DC power port. Dovetail Compatibility: Accepts Losmandy (D style) or Vixen (V style) dovetail bars. Power Failure Protection: Internal brake stops gears to prevent telescope damage.
