Monroe County, located in the eastern portion of Missouri, was created on 6 January 1831 and named for President James Monroe, the fifth President of the United States. The area wa s settled primarily from middle Tennessee and Kentucky. Entries in this volume are taken from Marriage Record Books A and B, including marriage date, groom, and bride, as well as the names of the ministers and justices who officiated.
