Date: Tuesday, 7 November 2023 Time: 9:30am to 6:30pm Location: The Jarvis Auditorium, 66 Portland Place, London, W1B 1ADGuerrilla Tactics is the RIBA’s annual flagship conference for small and medium sized architectural practices. Held on 7 November, the event provides a wealth of insightful information with a focus on essential business skills for architects, and how they can develop their practices through innovation. This year’s Guerrilla Tactics explores agility and how you can make a virtue of being ‘small’. The conference will discuss how practices can continue to be resilient no matter the climate, while focusing on the benefits of being and staying small. It will ask what ‘growth’ really means and how small practices can leverage their uniqueness and be honest about what’s in their heart. It will explore what it means to specialise versus being reactive and the power of knowing what to say yes to. It delves into the lived experience of a micro practice that has learned to create successful bid proposals – the hard way – and looks at finding the right technology to score those quick wins. Practice Speed Mentoring will follow the conference event giving you a rare opportunity to network with peers and experts from the industry.ProgrammeRegistration & Welcome 09:30 - 10:00: Registration, welcome refreshments and networking 10:00 - 10:05: Welcome from RIBA President, Muyiwa Oki Morning sessions 10:05 - 10:30: Rion Willard, The Business of Architecture - Keynote 10:30 - 10:50: Tom Bell, Freehaus - Resilience and agility in a changing climate 10:50 - 11:10: Emma Keyte, Free Projects - A recipe for agility 11:10 - 11:40: Coffee Break 11.40 - 12:00: Elle Bytautaite, Studio Elle - Building your Brand from Scratch: on and offline 12:00 - 12:15: Q&A with Tom Bell, Emma Keyte and Elle Bytautaite 12:15 - 12:45: Workshop on themes from the morning sessions - led by Lindsay Faller, Cloudfields 12:45 - 13:45: Lunch Afternoon sessions 13:45 - 13:50: Welcome to afternoon sessions - Lindsay Faller, Cloudfields 13:50 - 14:10: Keir Regan-Alexander, Arka Works – Pitching your Practice 14:10 - 14:30: Albert Hill, The Modern House - Hustling with Heart 14:30 - 14:40: Q&A with Albert Hill, The Modern House 14:40 - 15:00: Serwan Saleme - Technology you can use 15:00 - 15:10: Q&A with Serwan Saleme on Technology you can use 15:10 - 15:35: Coffee Break 15:35 - 15:55: Minesh Patel, Minesh Patel Architects - Dispatches from a small practice: fees and bid writing 15:55 - 16:05: Q&A with Minesh Patel, Minesh Patel Architects 16:05 - 16:40: Interactive round table with RIBA Guerrilla Tactics steering group members Closing 16:40 - 17:00: Delegate Insights from day 17:00 - 17:05: Closing words 17:05 - 18:30: Networking drinks reception with freestyle mentoring opportunityLearning Outcomes Minesh Patel, Dispatches from a small practice: fees and bid writing.
