Why This Watch Matters This Royce is the pop of color you need on your wrist. The Full Story Royce was owned by Eska Watch Company, and was basically the export brand for them. Silvan Kocher started Eska in 1918 in Grenchen, Switzerland. This reference 13-39 features a Valjoux 7733 movement and a gorgeous burgundy red color scheme. The offers a lot of value at the price point with features seen in much more expensive watches from this era such as the lollipop seconds hand and "yachting" graduation in the three o'clock sub-register. All of this is found in a fairly large 38mm screw-back case. This watch features some cool details like the Royce logo on the dial, starfish on the case back, and the deep burgundy bezel insert. All in all, this Royce is a great-looking chronograph with classic styling at a fraction of the price of other chronographs from this time period. The case is strong with scratches and light nicks. The facets are still visible on the lugs. The case appears to have been lightly polished. The back of the lugs have some light scratches. The serial number is crisp on the caseback as are the rest of the engravings. The burgundy-colored dial is clean with a very light patina overall. The white sub-registers have developed patina. The blue and pink painted sections of the minutes register at three show some wear, but remain vibrant. The hands have developed some patina. The lume on the dial has developed patina and aged to a creamy tone. The lume on the hands is a bit darker than that of the dial and has developed patina. The dial and case are signed by Royce. The crown is unsigned. The crown shows some wear in the center. The crystal has some scratches. The burgundy bezel is in overall great condition with light scratches and small spots of paint loss throughout. The bezel shows some wear around the edges and the color has remained vibrant.
