Furutani Seitosho List Page Furutani Seitosho - Koichi Furutani Born in 1979 in Shigaraki Town, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture Started pottery making at Furutani Seitosho in 2004 Specialty "Kohiki White Dishware" We work every day to create elegant, warm "Kohiki White Dishware" that enhances any dish. We also pay particular attention to the clay we use, using our own clay for pottery throwing and tatara molding. The clay is molded from red clay, then coated with white decorative mud, glazed, and fired. To ensure comfortable use and microwave-safety, no chemicals or liquid ceramic coatings are applied after firing. Instead, we repeat a double firing process called "honyaki" to make our tableware even more durable and of a quality that can be used safely in everyday life.
