We also pay particular attention to the clay we use, using our own clay for pottery throwing and tatara molding. The clay is molded from red clay, then coated with white decorative mud, glazed, and fired. To ensure comfortable use and microwave-safety, no chemicals or liquid ceramic coatings are applied after firing. Instead, we repeat a double firing process called "honyaki" to make our tableware even more durable and of a quality that can be used safely in everyday life.
