Date: Tuesday 12 November 2024 Time: 1 to 2 pmJoin us for a CPD session on Timber Framed Buildings and their Conservation Approach with Paul Chatham, as part of a series of four ‘C onservation Suite’ webinars which explore a wide range of conservation issues spanning from the theoretical to the technical. In this module Paul will deliver a module on Timber Framed Buildings and their Conservation Approach. Through two case studies we will look at how timber framed buildings have been changed and adapted, and at methods for converting them. Both the case study buildings have medieval origins and have subsequently been altered and then misunderstood. We will examine the evidence of their original construction and later adaptation. We will also look at timber conservation repair techniques. Learning outcomes: Understanding timber framed buildings. Carpenters’ marks and other marks. The adaption of timber framed buildings. Conservation repair techniques. Timber building conservation courses. These CPD modules have been curated to provide learning opportunities for all architects, whether they are newcomers or experienced, in the field of heritage.SpeakerPaul Chatham Paul qualified as an architect in 1997 and is an RIBA accredited conservation architect. He has an RICS Postgraduate Diploma in Building Conservation and recently completed a MSc in Timber Building Conservation taught at the Weald and Downland Living Museum and validated by the University of York. He is a member of the RIBA Conservation Advisory Group and helped assemble the RIBA Professional Services Contract 2020 for Conservation Architectural services. He is presently involved with projects at the Hospital of St Cross in Winchester and Handel House in London.Please note Each recording will expire 12 months after enrolling onto the module.
