Why This Watch Matters This Gallet MultiChron is a super-attractive watch that offers excellent value. The Full Story Gallet is known for its chronograph production, and often times, its watches were built and designed with specialized purposes in mind. Gallet built a number of different chronographs, all for different functions, including those with decimal scales for industrial purposes, pulsation scales for doctors, yachting registers for boat racing, tachymeter scales for tracking speed, and telemeter scales for tracking distance via sound. Some of the best known Gallet models include the Clamshell chronographs, which were considered the first waterproof chronograph wristwatches, and the Flying Officer chronographs. The watch we have today is a multi-scale chronograph, with a tachymeter scale along the edge of the dial in blue text, as well as a telemeter scale underneath. This Gallet has a bunch of neat details, like engine-turned sub-dials, dark-colored hands filled with lume, and luminous Arabic numerals that give the watch a nice sporty feel. The minutes counter at three o'clock counts up to 45 minutes, hence the watch's name, the MultiChron 45. The minimal text on the dial – other than the Gallet logo at the top and the "Swiss" designation at the bottom – is a nice, restrained touch. This example has remained in overall great condition with a crisp case and clean dial. We paired this chronograph with our Barrett Strap in Navy to match the light blue text on the dial and really highlight the watch's details. The case is strong with scratches and is possibly unpolished. The dial is in good condition with light patina. The hands have developed patina. The lume on the hands and dial have developed patina and are matching in color. The crystal has some scratches throughout. The crown is unsigned, which is correct for this model. The dial, movement, and case are all signed by the company.
