Gary Neal, Skanska UK A seasoned construction industry professional with 45 years’ experience under his belt – 35 of which working in fire safety – Gary is Skanska UK’s go-to fire expert. With a broad career spanning work in the rail sector, both above and below ground, as well as significant building projects, Gary has put continuous learning at the heart of his approach, gaining an honours degree in Construction Site fire safety and collaborating with the London Fire Brigade and Government regulators, to remain at the forefront of evolving practice and legislation. Always looking to drive improvements, Gary’s focus is on the management controls and safety measures needed to prevent risk of fire. The recent considerable challenges brought about by the Building Safety Act ahs brought a new dimension to Gary’s work. David Stronge, Peabody Design Director David oversees the quality of Peabody’s development programme across London and the northern Home Counties. His team manages the design, procurement, construction, and handover of new homes to residents and Peabody’s landlord functions. They focus on creating safe, sustainable, inclusive, viable, and desirable homes and neighbourhoods where people want to live. David trained as an architect in Dublin and Edinburgh. Over the past 20 years, he has worked on the design and construction of buildings and housing from the perspectives of an architect, main contractor, developer contractor, and now as part of Peabody. Dieter Bentley-Gockmann, EPR Architects - Course Consultant Dieter Bentley-Gockmann is a Chartered Architect who graduated from the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University in 1995, completed a Master’s degree in Construction Law and Arbitration at King’s College, London in 2005 and since 2006 has been Director, Legal and Technical Services at EPR Architects Limited. In his role as Director of EPR Architects, Dieter oversees the practice’s organisational capability to deliver projects, including higher-risk buildings, in accordance with the CDM Regulations 2015 and the relevant requirements of the Building Regulations 2010, as amended by the Building Safety Act 2022. This includes advising the practice’s designers about all aspects of regulatory and professional compliance and individual competence. In particular, he ensures that designers, including those acting in the capacity of principal designer, are aware of, understand, and have the appropriate skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours to discharge their duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and Part 2A of the Building Regulations introduced by The Building Regulations etc. (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2023.
