How it works For each tier, bake a cake to match its kit: a 3″ (8cm) cake for the 3″ kit, a 5″ (13cm) for the 5″, and a 7″ (18cm) for the 7″. Trim each sponge with its crumb cutter to shave off the crust and size it down slightly, which leaves a little room for your ganache or buttercream.
