DESCRIPTION This rare leather jacket has no labels whatsoever, but we can still confidently say that it is of Swedish origin, most likely from the 1930s, and produced in the Malung area — which at the time was the centre of Sweden’s leather industry. The cut is somewhat distinctive: the hem is shaped like a waistcoat, a style that was popular on various types of jackets during the 1930s. These jackets could be made with or without a collar — this one features a collar. It is single-breasted with six buttons, though the bottom button is not intended to be fastened, much like a waistcoat. There is a vertical chest pocket on each side, and the sides are fitted with side adjusters. The jacket is fully lined with cotton fabric. This piece shows a fair amount of patina — there are some discreet repairs and small holes in the lining. There is no doubt that this jacket has seen genuine use over the years.
