Join us for a practical course exploring early learnings from the Pilot Version of the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard (UKNZCBS), hosted by Jess Hrivnak, Sustainability Lead (RIBA). Developed through an unprecedented cross-industry collaboration between RIBA, CIBSE, IStructE, LETI, BBP, RICS, BRE, The Carbon Trust and UKGBC, the UKNZCBS sets out a clear, science-led framework for defining and demonstrating net zero carbon alignment in the UK built environment. This course will explain the Pilot Testing Programme, spotlighting learnings and findings from participating projects. We will bring you case study examples of applying the mandatory requirements of The Standard across a range of building types and contexts. Through these diverse examples, we will share practical insights into applying The Standard, tackling data and performance challenges, and design decisions that impact compliance. This webinar will offer vital guidance on how to prepare for, and benefit from the UKNZCBS approach to credible, consistent net zero carbon delivery. SpeakerJess Hrivnak, Sustainability Lead (RIBA) Jess nurtures a belief that sustainability goes beyond environmental impact and is passionate about the social and cultural aspects of how we engage with the topic. She is the RIBA’s Practice Technical Adviser on Sustainability and is passionate about bridging the gap between technical and creative specialisms. Jess leads the Institute’s work on the UKNZCBS Standard and represented RIBA to work on the Value Toolkit, a decision-making framework launched by the Construction Innovation Hub. She has been involved in the RIBA’s 2030 Climate Challenge since its inception. Jess guest tutors and lectures at Universities in the UK on environmental design and sustainability. She has worked in the industry for over 15 years, working at Hopkins Architects, BioRegional, 3Adapt and Max Fordham LLP where she was a Partner.
