The Distortion+, which first appeared in 1973, is known as a pioneer of the op-amp and diode clipping circuit, and is a model that influenced subsequent overdrive pedals. It is a drive pedal with a relatively low gain and a familiar overdrive sound. This unit was shipped in 1980. The case is a heavy, original MXR unit, with the familiar block-letter logo painted on it. The rubber cushion on the back is worn, and there are scratches and paint chips on the case, but the unit is still in fairly good condition. The op-amp IC is the UA741CP. Compared to the high-gain distortion pedals that were popular at the time, it has a low-gain and moderate distortion, but it also has excellent sustain and a rich dynamic range, allowing you to enjoy a brilliant and comfortable overdrive sound.
