The Distortion+, which first appeared in 1973, is known as a pioneer of the op-amp and diode clipping circuit, and is a model that influenced subsequent overdrive pedals. It is a drive pedal with a relatively low gain and a familiar overdrive sound. This unit was shipped in 1979. The case is a heavy, original MXR unit, with the familiar block-letter logo painted on it. While there are some scratches and paint chips on the body, it is in good condition, giving it the feel of vintage gear. The op-amp IC is the LM741CP.Compared to the high-gain distortion pedals that were popular at the time, it has a low gain and just the right amount of distortion, but it also has excellent sustain and a rich dynamic range, allowing you to enjoy a brilliant and comfortable overdrive sound.
