The Blue Note Select is the "V2" of our favorite circuit. The original Blue Note Pro series was the first to include a "hot" switch, and then they introduced the Tour series, which doesn't have a "hot" switch. The Blue Note Select not only includes a "Hot" switch, but also offers significant improvements in look, sound, and overall feel, all in a very small package. We created custom knobs and mixed custom colors to achieve the electric blue you see here. The biggest improvement so far is the low end, both with "Hot Mode" on and off. This may be our best low-gain drive yet. Low gain pedals can be tricky to work with because they blur the line between boost and drive. If you use a Blue Note Select or other low-gain drive pedal, we recommend adjusting it to match your amp. The downside of the pedal is that it can introduce clean notes under the overdrive, giving it an unnatural drive sound. I've found that once the amp is just past its minimum edge of breakup or "bracing," adding a bit of overdrive to top it off gives the best results. With Blue Note Select you can add subtle OD or turn up the internal clipping quite hot - either way, getting into a gain structure where the amp starts to brace will improve the OD sound. The trick with the Blue Note Select is that it has two gain structures, offering a wide range of drive, so you can vary the type of amp you're using. I use the Blue Note Select to really push my Marshall Plexi, because I can tweak the bottom end to match. It's a very simple setup and gives you a wide range of sounds, so be sure to give it a try. The best compliment we've received about the Blue Note Select is that you can't tell you're using a pedal.
