The history of the Tone Bender is already difficult to understand, but the Vox V828 Tone Bender, made in Jen, Italy, makes it even more complicated, and it is an instrument that has also been well-received for its sound. This latest arrival is a 1969-style guitar with a black case and silver panel. While there are minor scratches and signs of use on the case and front panel, and some rust on the back panel, it is in good condition, giving it the feel of a vintage instrument. One rubber foot has been replaced and one is missing. The germanium transistors used are a combination of SFT337 and SFT363. The treble-heavy, thick, roaring fuzz sound when fully turned up is truly appealing. The attack pot has been replaced. While they produce more than the British SolaSound, it's becoming more difficult to find.
