[We have a used Canopus birch snare drum in stock, with a lacquer finish, popular for its mellow sound!] [Birch Snare Drum] A warm, dry sound with a strong attack that completely c hanges the image of traditional birch. It features a dark sound character and straightforward tone that sets it apart from maple. The vertical grain of the inner ply emphasizes a straight sound. Even when using a unique headstock, the sound of the shell and head does not clash, making this a snare drum suitable for a wide range of uses. The ear-splitting sound is so striking that it is difficult to achieve with other materials. [About the use of nitrocellulose lacquer] Materials commonly used for lacquer finishes include polyester, urethane, acrylic, and nitrocellulose. After repeated experimentation with all of these finishes, Canopus decided on nitrocellulose lacquer, which emits a wide range of frequencies from low to high and brings out the best characteristics of the shell. This material has the disadvantage of being extremely time-consuming, requiring several times more steps than regular lacquer finishes to achieve an extremely thin, mirror-like finish. However, as evidenced by the fact that many vintage guitars use this material, we are convinced that it is the only lacquer material that can fully bring out the natural sound of the shell material. Additionally, compared to other lacquer materials, wood tends to thin and discolor over time, and in some cases the paint may crack. However, this allows the paint and wood to blend together, and you can enjoy watching the sound evolve into a mature, resonant tone.
