When combined with reinforced hoops, it can produce a more focused sound, making it suitable for live and studio use. -Specialized Shell Configuration (SSC)- The combination of wood grain directions significantly affects the sound. DW maximizes resonance by lowering the fundamental pitch of the shell and layering plies cut in different grain directions—vertical, horizontal, and diagonal (X-shell)—to manufacture a perfect drum. We offer a variety of ply combinations, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your preferred sound. -VLT- VLT (Vertical Low Timber) shells are constructed with vertical plies positioned to minimize tension, resulting in a lower pitch than conventional shells. This creates a low-tuned sound with excellent sustain and attack. In VLT shells, the outermost and innermost plies are arranged vertically, rather than horizontally as in conventional designs. The straight grain reduces the tension on the shell, allowing it to vibrate more freely, resulting in a lower fundamental pitch. -Woods- DW provides the finest woods, carefully selected from around the world, for drum making. -Bearing Edge- The Collector's Series shells are precisely cut with 45-degree (toms) and 60-degree (bass and snare) bearing edges. The toms provide tone and sustain, while the bass and snare provide depth and punch. -MAG throw-off & 5P (five position) butt plate- The MAG Throw-Off allows for smooth and easy adjustment thanks to its built-in magnet and horizontal tension adjustment function. It eliminates any looseness or slackness during performance. The 5P (Five Position) butt plate allows you to adjust the snare wire tension in five stages, providing drummers with the perfect snare sound. -True-Pitch 50 Tuning Rods- By using a finer pitch than typical tension rods, it allows for more precise tuning.
