This version, known as the "White Face," features a logo that is a black and white inversion of the current one. While the internal components remain largely unchanged from the large case era, its compact size makes it highly regarded both in the market and among collectors. Based on internal data, this particular unit is believed to have been shipped around 1984. The casing shows signs of rust and wear, giving it a vintage feel. The op-amp IC is the LM308N, which is the basic specification for the RAT, and is made by National Semiconductor, just like in the large-case era. The buffer circuit FET is a National Semiconductor 2N5458. Just like the large-case version, it produces a range from piercing crunch tones to powerful, fuzz-flavored distortion, with a soft, chewy feel and rich harmonics, creating a pleasant tone.
