Transferrin (TF) mediates the transport of iron from plasma to cells. Transferrin exists in three forms: apoferric (not bound to iron ions), saturated iron (bound to two molecules of iron ions) and partially saturated iron. Transferrin can bind to specific cell surface receptors and be internalized by endocytosis. After entering the cell, iron is released into the cell, while apoferric transferrin is released to the outside of the cell by exocytosis without being degraded. Transferrin can deliver iron to cells in a safe and effective form. This product is a recombinant human transferrin expressed and purified from Pichia pastoris using genetic recombination technology. It does not contain animal-derived components, has no risk of blood-borne virus infection, and has high batch-to-batch stability.
