Needles 4.5 mm circular needles (40 cm) 4.5 mm double-pointed needles for crown shaping(or use Magic Loop if preferred) Yarn Requirements This hat is worked holding two strands together: A fine merino or 4 ply yarn (approx. 200–250 m per 50 g) Held together with a soft halo yarn (like mohair or brushed alpaca, approx. 200–220 m per 25 g) Approximate Metreage Fine yarn: ~235 metres Halo yarn: ~210 metres Choosing Your Yarn This is where the magic of this hat really happens. The combination of a smooth yarn + a soft halo strand gives you: A light, airy fabric That slightly fuzzy, relaxed finish A hat that softens and drapes beautifully as you wear it If you want a cleaner, less fuzzy look, you can swap the halo strand for a second fine yarn — but you’ll lose a bit of that softness and drape.
