Bathing | Group Exhibition Curated by Brian Shure June 27 ‒ August 13, 2018 Planthouse is pleased to present Bathing featuring Ana Medina, Lily Wong, Angela Dufresne, Richard Dupont, Brian Shure, Zoé de Soumagnat, Kate Gottgens, and Katherine Bradford. Ana Medina was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and lives in Los Angeles, CA. She received her BFA in Painting from Florida State University (2008) and MFA in Painting With Distinction from the University of New Mexico (2012). She has worked as an adjunct professor, a studio assistant, and a fabricator. Lily Wong (b.1989, Seattle, WA) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She received her BFA in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design (2011) and MFA from Hunter College, NY (2020). Angela Dufresne (b.1969) is a Brooklyn based artist known for paintings that explore narrative in a variety of ways. Dufresne holds a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute, MO and an MFA from Tyler School of Art, PA. She is currently faculty at the Rhode Island School of Design. Richard Dupont (b. 1968) was born in New York and received a BA from the Departments of Visual Art and Archeology at Princeton University. Dupont’s works have been exhibited at numerous museums including The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, San Diego, CA (2016); The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH (2015); The Underground Museum, Los Angeles, CA (2014); The Museum of Arts and Design, New York, NY (2014); The Queens Museum, Queens, NY (2013); The Middlebury College Museum of Art, Middlebury, VT (2011); and The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, Peekskill, NY (2008). Brian Shure (b.1952) is a printmaker, painter, author, and educator. He is best known for his mastery of printing techniques, knowledge of lesser known art techniques and has published multiple books about the art of chine-collé. Zoé de Soumagnat (b.1987) is a French artist. Kate Gottgens (b.1965, Durban, South Africa) currently lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa. Gottgens graduated from the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town, in 1987. Gottgens is the most recent recipient of the Ampersand Fellowship Award, resulting in a residency in New York City, USA. Katherine Bradford is a painter who splits her time between New York and Maine. Bradford has shown her work in New York at PS1, The Brooklyn Museum, The Frye Museum of Art, and the Canada Gallery. In addition, her work is in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Brooklyn Museum, and The Portland Museum of Art.
