5150 Autosport S54 VANOS Elimination Kit The 5150 Autosport VANOS Elimination Kit removes the factory dual VANOS system from the BMW S54, converting it to a fixed cam timing setup for maximum simplicity, consistency, and mechanical reliability. This kit is designed for heavily modified engines, including supercharged and turbocharged builds, as well as hill climb, drifting, rally, and drag racing applications. It is particularly beneficial in combinations using ECUs that do not support dual VANOS control. In race environments where engines are consistently operated above 3000 RPM, the VANOS system provides limited benefit, making a fixed cam timing setup more stable and predictable. Important Notes on Eliminating VANOS This modification is intended for track-only and race applications. Removing VANOS significantly changes engine behavior and may not suit all builds. Install the sprocket hubs using the supplied M6 x 16 mm screws with Loctite. Torque to the factory specification. Install the cam sprockets and set cam timing according to the cam manufacturer’s specifications. Attach the cam sprockets to the sprocket hubs using the supplied M6 x 14 mm screws, Loctite, and washers. Install the supplied block-off plate to prevent oil flow into the original VANOS tube. We recommend replacing the O-rings with new ones during this step.
