Instead of the traditional palm used for regular tawashis, these are made from the softer fibers of a Cabbage palm leading to less risk of scratching. The rounded end allows for sw ift cleaning of all of your cylindrical objects. Palm fibers can withstand repeated water exposure and are durable but not abrasive. While most tawashis are now made in a factory, this tawashi is made by hand by Masatsumu Kitayama who has been making tawashis by hand for over 50 years. Great tawashis are made by carefully selecting high-quality palm fibers and taking care to create the perfect density, while maintaining a beautiful shape- steps that can only be done by hand. Mr. Kitayama only selects the softest and best quality palm fibers, and works on each tawashi by aligning the direction of the fibers and ensuring evenness of density.
