★★★★★ Trusted by businesses across Scotland and the UK — read our reviews. A5 Perfect Bound Brochures This is the binding that turns a brochure into a publication. Pages and cover are glued along the spine with a strong, flexible thermal adhesive, then trimmed on the three remaining edges to give clean, square, "perfect" edges. The result has a flat printed spine — so it can carry a title, sit on a shelf and be found again months later. Supplied as standard with a 350gsm silk cover, your choice of matt or gloss laminate, and 150gsm silk inners. Perfect binding is a specialist process with tight tolerances on spine width, glue temperature and cover scoring, and every job is specified, proofed and quality-checked by our team in Paisley before it reaches you. Who is this for? Perfect binding is what you choose when the brochure represents you at a senior level and will be kept rather than skimmed — catalogues, annual reports, prospectuses, portfolios, company histories, premium brand books. The difference between handing someone a stitched brochure and handing them a perfect bound one is immediate and physical: it has weight, a spine, and the feel of something that was meant to last. It is also the only binding we offer with a printed spine, which matters more than people expect. A brochure that goes onto a shelf and can't be identified from the edge is a brochure that doesn't get picked up again. How does this compare to our other brochures? This is our premium binding and the pricing reflects genuinely different production — more material, more process steps, a laminated 350gsm cover as standard, and a 5-7 working day turnaround rather than 3-4. It starts at 36 pages because you need enough bulk to form a spine worth gluing. If your brochure is under 48 pages and doesn't need a spine, A5 saddle stitched starts at £65 and is not a compromise — it's the correct method for that page count. If the document needs to lie completely flat while someone works from it, A5 wire bound is the answer instead. Our binding comparison puts all three head to head. --- Product Specifications • Size: A5 Portrait / 148mm (w) x 210mm (h)• Cover: 350gsm Silk with your choice of Matt or Gloss laminate• Inners: 150gsm Silk• Pages: 36 to 120 online, in multiples of four, including the cover• Quantities: 25 to 500 copies online• Perfect bound with a flat, printable spine• Trimmed on three edges for clean, square finish• Full colour throughout, both sides• Specified, proofed and quality-checked by our Paisley team --- Need more pages, more copies, or a different specification? Our online pricing shows 36 to 120 pages and 25 to 500 copies, but that's a website convenience rather than a production limit. We produce perfect bound work up to 450 pages and at considerably higher volumes — past around 1,000 copies litho becomes the more economical route and the unit cost drops significantly, so a larger run is always worth pricing. A5 landscape, square formats and bespoke trim sizes, uncoated or recycled inners, soft touch lamination, speciality and textured cover stocks, mixed stocks between cover and text — all available, none of it listed. Whatever the specification, it's managed end to end by the same team. The pages and cover are glued together at the spine with a strong yet flexible thermal glue, and the other three sides of the book are then trimmed to give them clean, "perfect" edges. It produces a flat printed spine and the substance of a proper book, which is why it's used for catalogues, annual reports and prospectuses. What is the minimum page count for perfect binding? 36 pages. Below that there isn't enough bulk to form a spine that will hold reliably. If your content sits under 36 pages, saddle stitching is the right method — and considerably cheaper. Does a perfect bound brochure lie flat? No. The glued spine holds the pages firmly, so it needs holding open. If your brochure has to stay open by itself — a manual, a planner, a training pack — wire binding is the correct choice. Why is perfect binding more expensive? More material, more process and more time. It uses a heavier 350gsm laminated cover as standard, requires a glued and trimmed spine, and takes 5-7 working days rather than 3-4. If your page count allows saddle stitching, that will always be the more economical route. Which lamination should I choose? Matt is smooth and non-reflective, softening colour slightly and giving an understated, professional finish. Gloss is high shine, intensifying colour and making images stand out, and it's the more scuff-resistant of the two. Soft touch — a velvety, tactile film — is available on request and is the finish clients least regret paying for. Our lamination guide covers all three. What is the lead time for this product? Typical timescale is 5-7 working days depending on the quantity required. If you have a specific deadline, get in touch — we'll always tell you honestly whether we can hit it. What are my delivery options? We send our parcels via courier on a next day service within the UK. If you are in a remote area of the UK, please allow 48hr deliveries. If you are local to us, you can simply click and collect from our studio. Artwork Requirements Please supply your artwork as a single multi-page PDF, single pages in reading order starting with the front cover — not spreads, and please don't impose the file yourself. Set the document to finished size with an additional 3mm bleed around all edges plus trim marks, and keep critical content at least 5mm inside the trim. Supply the cover as a separate file if you're designing spine artwork — spine width depends on your final page count and stock, so ask us for the exact measurement before you build it. Full detail is in our artwork and design guide. Do you offer a design service? Yes we do. Our in-house graphic designers are available to create artwork to your specific requirements. Simply contact us and we'll come straight back with a quotation. Our team will supply drafts for approval, where you can suggest any tweaks you would like, ahead of print. Design charge: Our artwork service is charged at £35 per hour. Final cost based on the timescale required on the project. Don't worry, we'll keep you up to date at every stage.
