★★★★★ Trusted by businesses across Scotland and the UK — read our reviews. A5 Wire Bound Brochures Wire binding does one thing no other binding can: it opens completely flat and stays there. Pages are punched and bound with a durable silver wire spiral, so the book can be folded right back on itself and left open on a desk, a counter or a workbench without springing shut. That sounds like a small thing until you consider who's using it. Someone following a training manual has their hands full. Someone working through a set of instructions needs the page flat in front of them. Someone annotating a report needs a stable writing surface. A binding that closes itself doesn't just annoy — it makes the document worse at its job. Printed and finished in-house at our Paisley studio, from 36 to 120 pages. Who is this for? Wire binding is for documents that get worked from rather than simply read — training manuals, operating instructions, technical handbooks, planners and diaries, recipe books, workbooks, field guides, reference documents and anything with space for notes. If your document falls into that category, we'd suggest the 250gsm uncoated cover with 120gsm uncoated inners. Uncoated stock takes pen and pencil far better than coated — a coated sheet's sealed surface resists ink, so pens smudge and pencil doesn't grip. If nobody will be writing on it and you want punchier colour, the 350gsm silk cover with 150gsm silk inners is the better-looking option. How does this compare to our other brochures? Wire binding isn't a middle option between stitched and perfect bound — it's a different answer to a different question, and that question is "does someone need to work from this while it's open?" If the answer is no, one of the others will serve you better and usually cost less. Under 48 pages with no lay-flat requirement, A5 saddle stitched starts at £65. If you need a printed spine and a book-like finish, A5 perfect bound is the one — though it won't stay open. Our binding comparison puts all three head to head. --- Product Specifications • Size: A5 Portrait / 148mm (w) x 210mm (h)• Paper option 1: 350gsm Silk cover with 150gsm Silk inners• Paper option 2: 250gsm Matte Uncoated cover with 120gsm Matte Uncoated inners• Pages: 36 to 120• Quantities: 25 to 250 copies online• Bound with durable silver wire• Opens completely flat and stays open• Full colour throughout, both sides• Printed and finished in-house at our Paisley studio --- Need a different paper, size or quantity? The combinations above are the ones we run most often, chosen because they work — they are not the limit of what we can do. A5 landscape and square formats, bespoke trim sizes, black or coloured wire, clear or frosted polypropylene covers, printed dividers and tabbed sections, recycled stocks, page counts and quantities outside the dropdowns — all available, none of it listed. Lower volumes than 25 or higher than 250? Both are absolutely fine, and on larger runs the unit cost drops significantly — so it's always worth asking us to price it rather than assuming the dropdown is the ceiling. Wire bound books — also called wiro bound — have their pages punched along one edge and bound with a durable metal wire spiral. Their lay-flat design makes information easy to reference while providing a comfortable surface for writing, presenting or following instructions, which is why they're the standard for manuals, reports, planners and notebooks. Does my page count have to be a multiple of four? No — and this is one of wire binding's practical advantages. Because pages are punched individually rather than folded in nested sheets, wire bound documents can take any page count. If your content has landed on an awkward number that stitched or perfect binding can't accommodate, wire binding may solve the problem outright. Which paper option should I choose? If anyone will write on it, choose the 250gsm / 120gsm uncoated combination — uncoated stock takes pen and pencil far better, and its softer, warmer look reads as understated and trustworthy. If the document is image-led and won't be written on, the 350gsm / 150gsm silk combination gives brighter, sharper colour and a more substantial cover. Our coated vs uncoated guide covers the difference in full. Can you add tabbed dividers or a clear cover? Yes. Printed dividers, tabbed sections, clear or frosted polypropylene front covers and coloured wire are all available — they're just not on the dropdowns. Tell us what you need and we'll quote it. What is the lead time for this product? Typical timescale is 3-5 working days depending on the quantity required. If you have a specific deadline, get in touch — we'll always tell you honestly whether we can hit it. What are my delivery options? We send our parcels via courier on a next day service within the UK. If you are in a remote area of the UK, please allow 48hr deliveries. If you are local to us, you can simply click and collect from our studio. Artwork Requirements Please supply your artwork as a single multi-page PDF, single pages in reading order starting with the front cover — not spreads. Set the document to finished size with an additional 3mm bleed around all edges plus trim marks. One point specific to wire binding: allow a clear margin of at least 15mm on the binding edge of every page, as the punched holes sit within that area. Images at 300dpi, colours in CMYK. Full detail is in our artwork and design guide. Do you offer a design service? Yes we do. Our in-house graphic designers are available to create artwork to your specific requirements. Simply contact us and we'll come straight back with a quotation. Our team will supply drafts for approval, where you can suggest any tweaks you would like, ahead of print. Design charge: Our artwork service is charged at £35 per hour. Final cost based on the timescale required on the project. Don't worry, we'll keep you up to date at every stage.
