This brushed silver leaf necklace is folded through the centre of the leaf, and this carries through onto the reverse, which makes it pleasantly tactile to wear. Buds and leaves form endless source of inspiration for my designs, which develop not through drawing on paper, but when I am making the pieces at my bench. In this design, my aim was to capture the essence of the leaf, rather than replicate it with scientific accuracy. The final form of this simple leaf pendant is smooth and clean, with soft curves, almost minimalist. I really like designing clean and integrated fittings in my jewellery collections, and with this necklace, the smooth silver snake chain slides discreetly behind the leaf, with the loop that it passes through ‘hidden’ from view when worn. Because of this, the leaf naturally tilts a little, just enough that the polished edges catch the light. (Please see photo of it being worn).
