Geoppertia (Ghep-PER-tee-ah), formerly classified as Calathea, is named so for the interesting leaf patterns and colors ranging from pink, purple, burgundy, minty green, deep green, and everything in-between. This listing is for an assortment that have been sent to us by our growers without formal cultivar or species names. These assortments change often. If ordering online, please contact us for exact plant specimens available. Geoppertia are members of the Marantaceae “Prayer Plant” Family and are native to the rainforest floors of Central and South America. This species does not necessarily fold it’s leaves like other Maranta, but they do move subtlety throughout the day with the movement of natural sunlight. GENERAL CARE Calathea prefer indirect light and watering when the soil begins to feel dry, with a very brief “dry-out” period between watering. Plant in a well-draining potting soil with adequate drainage. As forest floor jungle plants, Calathea grow best in higher humidity, so place near other plants, a humidifier, or in a well-lit bathroom or kitchen with higher moisture in the air. BONUS: Calathea are considered Pet-Friendly!
