The coasters are made of slate, which is created when compacted sediments are exposed to high temperatures. If that doesn't sound like a metaphor for queer experience, I don't know what does. They are 4"x4" and approximately 1/4" high. In wood, that would be too thin but in stone it has a nice heft. The set of four slate coasters, in fact, weighs significantly more than the wood option. The Racer Red vegan cork feet are set off brilliantly against the dark grey stone. I coat them on both sides with a Polyurethane spray to make them water-resistant and to make the engraving more stark. Show more
