Grapes: Sangiovese (95%), Canaiolo and Malvasia Nera (5%) Aged 24 months in old barriques and tonneaux with an additional 7 months in bottle ABV: 13.15% A very warm spring brings f orward the vegetation that is then stopped by rains and frost in May. This is followed by a well-balanced summer with hot peaks but also some rain that keeps the ripening in balance. A nice regular harvest from the beginning until mid-October that allowed us to make several rounds of selection. The best grapes destined to the Reserve remained well-ventilated on the vines until mid-October. Very balanced and ample in the mouth with hints of ripe black fruit and very bright cherry. Shades of spices such as white pepper and blond tobacco, elegant soft wood. Aromatic bouquet is nicely expanded. A wine with a very great ageing potential. From a cool east to northeast exposure, his wines are the epitome of the vertical, fine-framed and racy character associated with this UGA. Hailing from the estate’s oldest vineyard, this Riserva is a beautifully understated yet multifaceted 2019. Whiffs of mint and hibiscus, fennel and tobacco tantalise. The palate is trim and refined, with tamarind and pomegranate enfolded in powdery tannins, while crisp, nervous acidity imparts an energetic undertow. Minerals linger on the finish.
