Corona Premier 12Pk Cans is a Mexican-brewed light lager packaged as twelve 12 oz cans at 4.0% ABV. Distinguished by its remarkably lean 90-calorie, 2.6-gram carbohydrate profile, this lager stands apart from other light beers by retaining genuine flavor through a modified fermentation technique that converts more residual sugars without stripping character. Quick Facts: ABV: 4.0% | Origin: Mexico | Style: Light Lager | Brewery: Grupo Modelo (AB InBev) Production & Heritage Corona Premier is brewed by Grupo Modelo, the Mexican brewing powerhouse now owned by AB InBev, with primary production at the brewery in Nava, Coahuila, Mexico. The beer is made from water, barley malt, non-malted cereals, and hops, following a traditional lager process with one notable twist: brewers employ specialized enzymes and adjusted fermentation parameters so the yeast consumes more sugars during the process. The result is a lighter-bodied beer that hits just 90 calories and 2.6 grams of carbs per 12-ounce serving — positioning it as Corona's answer to the premium light beer segment without abandoning the flavor hallmarks of Mexican lager brewing. Tasting Notes Aroma: A gentle waft of sweet grain opens first, followed by subtle hints of pear and apple. Light honey notes linger underneath, giving the nose more dimension than most light lagers deliver. Taste: The entry is crisp and clean, with a light malt sweetness that registers immediately on the palate. At mid-palate, delicate fruit notes — pear and a whisper of apple — emerge alongside a balanced honey-like sweetness. The body is even and smooth, never watery despite the low calorie count. Finish: Clean and refreshing, with a dry close that doesn't linger excessively. A faint malt sweetness trails off, leaving the palate ready for another sip. How to Drink Corona Premier Corona Premier drinks best ice-cold, straight from the can or poured into a chilled glass with an optional lime wedge. It also works as a surprisingly capable beer cocktail base: a Michelada, where the clean body pairs naturally with lime, hot sauce, and Clamato; a Beer Margarita (Beergarita), where its light sweetness blends seamlessly with tequila and lime without overpowering; and a Shandy, mixed with fresh lemonade for an easy warm-weather refresher. Best For Backyard grilling sessions where a lower-calorie beer is preferred without sacrificing taste Watching game day with friends who want something lighter than a standard lager Beach coolers and poolside drinking in warm weather Health-conscious beer drinkers tracking carbohydrate and calorie intake Frequently Asked Questions What does Corona Premier taste like? Corona Premier is a smooth, crisp light lager with subtle fruit notes of pear and apple, a touch of honey sweetness, and a clean, dry finish. How does Corona Premier compare to Modelo Especial? Modelo Especial shares Mexican lager DNA but delivers a deeper, more pronounced malt flavor and fuller body at higher calories. Corona Premier is lighter and leaner at just 90 calories and 4.0% ABV, prioritizing drinkability and a lower nutritional footprint over richness. Is Corona Premier good for calorie-conscious drinkers? Yes — at 90 calories and 2.6 grams of carbs per 12 oz serving, it is one of the lowest-calorie Mexican lagers available while still maintaining noticeable malt and fruit flavor. Where is Corona Premier made? Corona Premier is brewed by Grupo Modelo in Mexico, with its primary brewing facility located in Nava, Coahuila. Additional production takes place at Grupo Modelo facilities in Mazatlán, Tijuana, and Orizaba. What foods pair well with Corona Premier? Fish tacos work well, as the beer's crispness cuts through fried batter and creamy slaw. Ceviche pairs naturally thanks to shared citrus brightness. Grilled chicken with lime complements the lager's subtle fruit notes. Light queso and chips match the beer's mild sweetness, and a simple caprese salad balances nicely against its clean finish. What sizes does Corona Premier come in? This listing is a 12-pack of 12 oz cans. Corona Premier is also commonly available in single cans, 6-packs, and 24-packs, as well as in bottle format. Is Corona Premier worth the price? Corona Premier positions as a premium light lager within the Mexican import category, sitting slightly above domestic light beers in price. For drinkers seeking the flavor character of a Mexican lager with significantly reduced calories and carbs, it represents solid value in the premium light segment. Why Corona Premier? The real differentiator here is the brewing process — by adjusting fermentation so yeast converts more sugars, Grupo Modelo achieves a 90-calorie, 2.6-carb beer that still reads as a genuine lager rather than flavored water. That's a meaningful distinction in a light beer category crowded with thin, characterless options. The fruit and honey notes give it an identity that most competitors in the low-calorie space simply lack, and the Mexican lager pedigree behind it ensures consistent, clean brewing at scale. For anyone seeking a beer that respects both their palate and their calorie budget, Corona Premier delivers without compromise.
