Pluots are hybrids of apricots and plums, but they are more plum-like, with smooth skin and a complex plum flavor. 'Dapple Dandy' Pluot has unique greenish-yellow skin with mottled red spots inspiring the name "Dinosaur Egg" in fresh fruit markets. The creamy pink flesh is freestone and has a sweet, slightly spicy, low-acid flavor. Fruit ripens in late July to August. Requires 400 chill hours to set fruit.
