Dumping Day marks the start of the lobster fishing season. This painting captures the lobster boats at dock at the government wharf in Fox Point, Nova Scotia. It is a major industry in the province, and has also been an important part of my life. My family has owned and operated a restaurant serving traditional lobster suppers since 1946 and these little crustaceans have shaped a lot of who I am today. Each of our original artworks is unique. It starts with a canvas made from a carefully handcrafted wood frame, fitted with wooden slats that are milled to various depths to give our artwork its signature and one of a kind texture. Blending coastal inspiration with contemporary craftsmanship, our designs capture the peace and natural beauty of Nova Scotia and the Maritimes.
